Mombasa City Itinerary

Welcome to the Heart of Coastal Heritage

Pick up from the hotel at 8:00 am and drive to Mombasa.

Elephant Tusks & Mama Ngina Waterfront

Once on Mombasa Island, your first stop is the famous Elephant Tusks, located on Moi Avenue. These iconic monuments, erected in 1952 to commemorate the visit of Queen Elizabeth II to Mombasa, are a symbol of the city's welcoming spirit and historical significance. Pause to take photos with these impressive tusks, which serve as a striking landmark and a popular photo opportunity. Drive through Mama Ngina water front on your way to Fort Jesus.

Exploring Historical Treasures: Fort Jesus Museum

Continue your exploration with a visit to Fort Jesus, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built by the Portuguese in the late 16th century, this imposing fortress stands as a testament to the region's tumultuous history. Wander through the ancient ramparts and explore the museum, which houses artifacts and exhibits narrating the rich maritime history and cultural heritage of the Swahili coast. The panoramic views of the Indian Ocean from the fort's battlements are simply breathtaking, providing a perfect backdrop for your photographs.

Mombasa Old Town

Next, step back in time as you stroll through the narrow,
winding streets of Mombasa Old Town. The area is a living museum, with its blend of Arabic, Portuguese, and British architectural influences. Admire the intricately carved wooden doors, coral stone buildings, and ornate balconies. Take in the sights and sounds of the bustling streets, where locals sell spices, textiles, and handmade crafts. Engage with friendly shopkeepers and perhaps purchase a unique souvenir to remember your visit.

Local Flavors and Vibrant Culture

Lunch at a Local Restaurant Savor the flavors of coastal cuisine at one of the
restaurants in town. Enjoy dishes like biryani, pilau, and freshly caught seafood, all seasoned with aromatic spices. The rich and diverse menu offers a taste of the region's culinary heritage, ensuring a memorable dining experience.
