Day Itinerary
Pick up and Farm Visit
Pick up from the hotel or villa and drive to Mwanjamba village. Visit a farm. Walk through local farms to see soils and crops. Try harvesting or planting cassava with a local farmer if it's the season, see coconut climbing. Emphasis on sustainable food systems and local knowledge.
Cooking experience
Join local women from the village to prepare a simple dish or snack using coconut. Experience how to: light a fire and prepare meals the Digo way, Grate fresh coconut and extract coconut milk, Use local, seasonal ingredients with minimal waste, cook local dishes, Sit on a mat (mkeka) and share meals together.
Explore the young women projects
Meet young women learning practical skills (e.g. tailoring, beading, hairdressing). Learn how the program supports education, financial independence, and healing for these rescued young mothers and girls. Experience basket weaving, mat making, and makuti preparation. Visit tailoring and bead-making classes. Engage in a short interactive activity: Make a simple bracelet, Learn a few words in the local language. Join in traditional Digo dances and songs, learn their meaning and role in celebrations. Visitors are encouraged to support by purchasing handmade crafts, not through handouts.
Return to Hotel
Drive back to the hotel or villa after the activities.
